  13. COMPUTER ANSWER LINE announced the new release of SIAM.
  14.  
  15. SIAM is an Information and Application Unix Server for Micro. It allows
  16. Macintosh and Pc's under Windows to connect to a A/UX (or UNIX) server with
  17. AppleTalk or X25 access and to consult informations, graphics or applications.
  18.  
  19. As soon as you are connected, icons appear like a local use of the Micro. By
  20. double clicking you will :

  22. • open a folder,
  23. • open a text window or a spreadsheet,
  24. • consult graphics,
  25. • download a file,....

  27. But SIAM is more than a BBS :

  29. • SIAM is made for Macintosh or PC's,
  30. • you can launch standard application : mail, product catalogue and ordering,
  31. expert system, ...
  32. • you can develop your own application with a C function library ans connect
  33. the SIAM server to your host computer,....

  35. What you can do with SIAM:

  37. • replace your old BBS by a powerful server easier to use ,
  38. • build a customer information service with Hot Line, marketing information and
  39. ordering product,

  44. text and graphics...

  48. . For the SIAM server : UNIX system 5 or Macintosh working with A/UX 2.0
  49. (16 Mo RAM, disk 150 Mo).
  50. . For the SIAM Client : any Macintosh or PC/Windows
  51. . For the network : Ethernet, Appletalk, X25, TELETEL, TVR.
  52. Some examples : BBS, Database access, File transfer, Electronic Newspapers,
  53. Client Server applications,....

  55. It's the new system for broadcasting informations on Macintosh and PC's.

  58. • client software can run either on PC's or Macintosh,
  59. • a new and easier management system for posting information on the server,
